For this performance I focused mainly on capturing blurred movement. This meant shutter speeds from around 1/30 to 1/2 sec. Having VR stabilization in the lens made it possible to pull off these shots hand held. Whenever possible I also tried to stabilize my left arm by resting it on my thigh if crouching down, tucking it in against my chest, or leaning against a wall or barricade. The 24-70 made a brief appearance to capture multiple dancers, but mainly it was all 70-200.
This performance had some traditional elements and great musicians playing the oud, derbakki, riqq and frame drums, but for the most part it was a very modern take on Middle Eastern belly dance with a lot of fusion thrown in.
